On April 24, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations held a
seminar to share information with leaders, lecturers, and students of universities, academies, and
colleges on people - to - people diplomancy.
The conference was
attended by about 150 delegates who are leaders, officers, lecturers, and
students of more than 30 universities, academies, colleges, The Department of
Foreign Affairs - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hanoi Department of Foreign
Affairs, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Vietnamese
Student Association.

At the Seminar,
president of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son
presented basic information about foreign affairs, people - to - people
diplomacy and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. He suggested a
number of orientations in cooperation with universities, academies, and
colleges, such as periodically exchanging information on global and regional
situations and people-to-people diplomacy; Introducing people-to-people
diplomacy content into the extracurricular and curricular programs; Connecting
international cooperation; Coordinating in information work, foreign
propaganda.

Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son said: The seminar aims to
increase the participation of lecturers, researchers, intellectuals, and
students of universities in people-to-people diplomacy activities; Promote
cooperation between the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and member
organizations with universities, academies, and colleges in training and
international cooperation activities. Thereby, it looks to contribute to
improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation.

Delegates highly
appreciated the form and content of the seminar. Much information about the
people-to-people diplomacy activities of educational institutes was presented.
Thereby, their potential, development trends, practical requirements, and
desires in people-to-people diplomacy in education, training, research, and
social activities were identified and new orientations for development were
proposed.
Representatives of
schools proposed nearly 20 topics they hope to cooperate with Viet Nam Union of
Friendship Organizations and its member organizations.
Dr. Phan Anh Son
said: Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations received and would actively
study the initiatives and suggestions of the delegates to build practical and
complementary work plans to serve both immediate and long-term goals in this policy
of coordination and cooperation.
