On September 23, 2022, at Education and Training
Division under Cam My district People’s Committee, the signing ceremony of a
Memorandum of Understanding for the project on “Strengthening educational
access opportunities for disadvantaged children in Dong Nai province” for the
period from 2022 to 2023 was implemented by Dong Nai Union of Friendship
Organizations and Saigon Children's Charity CIO (Saigonchildren).
The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere with the attendance of Deputy
Director of the Provincial Department of External Relations Nguyen Viet Thang;
Standing Vice President of Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations Bui Thi
Lieu; Head of Education and
Training Division of Cam My district Bui Thi Vinh; Representative of the sponsors,
including Ms. Nguyen Thi Duy Huong - Head Of Programmes, Saigonchildren in Vietnam, Mr. JunJin Sung - Chief
Financial Officer, USV . Company, Ms. Yvonne To - CSR Manager, Lacoste
Foundation, along with 30 delegates and journalists, officials, civil servants,
employees of 02 signing agencies and the project receiving agency.

At the opening speech, Ms. Bui Thi Lieu - Standing Vice President of Dong
Nai Union of Friendship Organizations emphasized the
signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Provincial Union of
Friendship Organizations and the Saigonchildren to implement the project “Strengthening
educational access opportunities for disadvantaged children in Dong Nai
province” for the period from 2023 to 2024 shows
the effective cooperation between Saigonchildren and Dong Nai province in the
past 22 years and continues to achieve more fruitful development in the coming
time. Over
the past years, Saigonchildren has
cooperated with Dong Nai province to implement many programs and projects in
the field of education with practical significance to help thousands of poor
children in remote and isolated areas of Dong Nai province have more
opportunities to learn and develop. The funding of Saigonchildren
in the past time has helped solve difficulties for students within the
framework of the project, and, support ways and improve skills for children and
their families to find the best way to reduce poverty and settle down their
lives in a sustainable way. The projects that the Saigonchildren
and the sponsors implement in Dong Nai province are not only bold in humanity
but also show the solidarity and friendship between the people of Dong Nai
province, Vietnam and the people of the United Kingdom.

According to the content of the signed Agreement,
the two agencies will coordinate to implement the project in Cam My, Trang Bom
and Bien Hoa city districts to create conditions for disadvantaged children to
learn and develop in a safe, suitable environment. The project will provide 275
scholarship packages for disadvantaged children, construction of new school
toilets, and vocational skills training support for 12 deaf children studying
at deaf schools. Simultaneously, the project also implements activities to
raise awareness, foster knowledge and skills on screening and early detection
of children with autism spectrum disorder for 600 teachers, parents and
children.
