366 pupils/students benefit from the Child Development Scholarship Programme in Dong Nai province
 

On October 22, 2024, Dong Nai province People's Committee issued a Decision on approval of the foreign non-governmental aid that is the Child Development Scholarship Programme in Dong Nai province for the 2024 - 2028 period sponsored by Saigon Children's Charity CIO (SCC/UK).

It is known that the Child Development Scholarship Programme removes barriers to education by providing scholarships – including tuition fees, books, rice, uniforms, stationery and social care – to children from disadvantaged backgrounds from primary school to university.  It takes a holistic approach to supporting children, their families, teachers, and community leaders to work together to keep children in education through a community-based child development support network.

It is known that the aid is implemented in localities in Dong Nai province by Dong Nai province Study Promotion Association, with the total implementation cost of the project worth 9,914,320,000 dongs. The project implementation period is since the date the Dong Nai Province People's Committee issued the approval Decision until June 22, 2028.

Direct beneficiaries of the project are pupils/students with difficult family circumstances residing in Dong Nai province, currently studying at public schools in the province as well as the Universities/ Colleges in Southern area.

The project's goal is to support 366 children with difficult family circumstances to receive partial tuition support so they can study with peace of mind; Children are equipped with basic life skills such as communication skills, safe use of the internet, skills to protect themselves safely online and in real life, and effective learning skills.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province assigned Dong Nai province Study Promotion Association to receive, deploy and manage the aid according to Decree No. 80/2020/ND-CP dated July 8, 2020 of the Government (on management and use of aid which is non-refundable and not part of official development support of foreign agencies, organizations and individuals for Vietnam), Decision No. 12/2023/QĐ-UBND dated March 31, 2023 of Dong Nai province People's Committee (Regulations on management and use of non-refundable aid that is not part of official development assistance from foreign agencies, organizations and individuals to Vietnam in Dong Nai province) and implementation of tasks and powers of the Aid Owner. Relevant agencies make periodic reports as prescribed in Article 14 of Decree No. 80/2020/ND-CP dated July 8, 2020 of the Government.
