On the afternoon of June 27 in Ha Noi, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo Member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF), met with a delegation of the Vietnam-loving Koreans Association (VESAMO) led by Mr. Chang Ho Ick, Vice Chairman of Dongwon Group, Vice Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chairman of VESAMO, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

Welcoming the delegation, President Do Van Chien affirmed that Viet Nam–Republic of Korea relations stand as a remarkable symbol of political trust, dynamic and sustainable economic cooperation, and close people-to-people ties. He reiterated Viet Nam's continued support for the Republic of Korea's development policies and its readiness to closely coordinate with the Korean side to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a deeper, more substantive and effective manner, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
According to President Do Van Chien, Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea maintain a comprehensive strategic partnership across various fields. The two nations share many similarities and a high level of mutual trust in bilateral cooperation, while consistently supporting each other in multilateral frameworks.
The Vietnam-loving Koreans Association, together with the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, has actively contributed to people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries, thereby reinforcing the three pillars of foreign affairs identified by the 13th National Party Congress: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy. Exchanges and cooperation between the peoples of the two nations have created a solid social foundation for the robust development of bilateral relations.

President Do Van Chien noted that approximately 300,000 Vietnamese citizens are currently living, studying and working in the Republic of Korea, while nearly 200,000 Koreans reside and conduct business in Viet Nam. Notably, around 80,000 Viet Nam–Korea multicultural families continue to serve as an important bridge strengthening the close bond between the two nations.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the VFF Central Committee, President Do Van Chien expressed sincere appreciation to VESAMO for its goodwill and practical support for the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea, including assistance to Vietnamese students living and studying there.
Sharing further information, President Do Van Chien highlighted that the Party and State of Viet Nam are implementing a comprehensive reform to streamline the organizational apparatus to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Under this restructuring plan, socio-political organizations and mass associations assigned tasks by the Party and State will be consolidated under the Viet Nam Fatherland Front.
“From July 1, 2025, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations will operate under the same umbrella as the Viet Nam Fatherland Front, contributing to more effective implementation of people-to-people diplomacy tasks," President Do Van Chien said.

Affirming that the Viet Nam Fatherland Front has received effective support from Korean enterprises and individuals who hold affection for Viet Nam, President Do Van Chien emphasized that timely assistance provided during difficult periods has contributed significantly to social welfare efforts and further fostered the Vietnamese people's positive sentiments toward the Republic of Korea.
Commending VESAMO's contributions, President Do Van Chien expressed confidence that, based on the pillar of people-to-people diplomacy, friendship organizations of both countries, including VESAMO, will continue to organize diverse, practical and meaningful exchange activities, thereby strengthening friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.

At the meeting, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son expressed gratitude to VESAMO for its longstanding support for the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, and disadvantaged Vietnamese students, while also sharing updates on Viet Nam's socio-economic development. He affirmed that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Viet Nam–Korea Friendship Association will continue to closely coordinate with VESAMO and Korean partners to effectively implement high-level agreements and further promote people-to-people exchanges.

During the visit, the delegation attended the groundbreaking ceremony of two charitable houses in Ung Hoa district and provided livelihood support worth VND 100 million to ten families; explored investment cooperation opportunities in Quang Ninh province; and organized a Viet Nam–Korea friendship exchange night in Ha Noi to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
The Vietnam-loving Koreans Association (VESAMO) is a non-profit organization founded in 2002 in Busan, Republic of Korea. Its members include scholars, entrepreneurs, lawyers, artists, intellectuals and individuals from diverse sectors of society. Over the past two decades, VESAMO has consistently demonstrated goodwill and provided practical support to the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea, while actively organizing meetings, friendship exchanges and investment promotion activities between the two countries.
