On the
evening of March 28, 2024, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province organised a celebration for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of
diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia, along with a Vietnam - Russia
Artistic Exchange Program.
Attending the event were Mr. Iurii Nemtsov – Deputy Consul General of Russia in
Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Duong Minh Dung – Deputy Chairman of the People's
Committee of Dong Nai Province; and approximately 300 delegates, including
leaders of various agencies and agencies of the province, officials, members of
the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, and a large number of people from
all walks of life in the province.

In his opening speech at the ceremony, Deputy Chairman of the Dong Nai
Provincial People's Committee Duong Minh Dung stated that on January 30, 1950,
the Soviet Union was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic
relations with Vietnam, demonstrating the strong solidarity of the Soviet Union
with Vietnam's national liberation revolution. Vietnam is always grateful for the
sincere and valuable assistance that the Soviet Union previously and Russia
today have provided to Vietnam in the past as well as in the current
development phase.
Recently, the Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people - to - people
diplomacy between Dong Nai province and the Russian people have been
increasingly consolidated, strengthened, and promoted. Notably, in April 2016,
the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee decided to establish the Vietnam - Russia
Friendship Association in the province (the Association), marking a new
development step in the friendly relationship between the people of the
province and the people of the Russia, reflecting the importance and practical
significance of consolidating and developing this good relationship in depth.
Since then, the Association has continuously made efforts to strengthen and
enhance the friendly and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations'
peoples through various rich, practical, and meaningful activities. According
to the Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, in 2025, Dong Nai
province also plans to organize a delegation to visit and work in Russia.

in Ho Chi Minh City shared at the anniversary ceremony that a notable point in
the friendly relations between Vietnam and Russia is the closeness and
similarities in the history, culture, and character of the peoples of the two
countries. Both countries have rich cultures imbued with national cultural
identities, and the peoples of the two nations are connected by common core
values such as patriotism, a resilient spirit of fighting against invasion, a
hardworking and creative work ethic, and compassion. He emphasized the belief
that the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia will
continue to develop and bring benefits to the peoples of both countries. Russia
is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in strengthening peace and security in the
region and the world, developing science, technology, and jointly addressing
new challenges.

At the event, attendees enjoyed lively dances and songs that reflect the beauty
and friendship of the two countries through the artistic exchange performance
of Vietnam – Russia displayed by the art troupe from the Consulate General of Russia
in Ho Chi Minh City, the Artists branch and the Dong Nai Art Theater branch under
Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association of Dong Nai province. Thirteen
outstanding musical and dance performances showcased the traditional cultural
characteristics of Dong Nai, Vietnam, and Russia, contributing to the image of
the countries and their people to a large audience from various walks of life
attending the program.

three-quarters of a century, Vietnam and Russia have endured a long and
challenging journey together. However, the deep affection between the two
nations has remained unchanged. On the international stage, Vietnam is one of
Russia’s closest partners in ASEAN and plays a crucial role in fostering ASEAN -
Russia cooperation. Strengthening the Vietnam - Russia comprehensive strategic
partnership serves the interests of both nations and contributes to peace and
stability in the Asia - Pacific region and worldwide.
