August 02nd, 2017, at Bien Hoa City, DUFO received delegation of Save
the Children (SCI / UK). Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Van Hue – SCI Southern
Area Manager and Mrs. Tran Thi Mai – Representative of Division for Foreign Non-governmental
Organization Affairs, DUFO.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Duong – SCI
Education Program Manager said that SCI had started operations in Vietnam in
1990 with activities of helping children in difficulties in the central Vietnam.
Until now, SCI has been operated in more than 20 Vietnamese provinces and
cities in the field of child protection, child rights, education, health care
and nutrition, youth development, emergency aid and climate change adaptation.
Over the past 10 years, SCI has provided emergency aid to more than 2 million
people, helping them overcome the aftermath of natural disaster; helped 4
million children get a healthy start, better education and avoid the risk of
violence, neglect, distraction, abuse and exploitation.
In the period 2017 - 2020, SCI is
expected to implement the project "Improving
the quality and equality of access to education for immigrant children in Vietnam"
in Dong Nai province with the total amount of 70,113EUR (equivalent to
5,309,495,250VND). The project will contribute to improving the education
quality for 1,500 immigrant children (ages 3-5) and teachers in 05 preschools
in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province.
Nguyen Van Hue was introducing Save The Children to DUFO
Ms. Tran Thi Mai expressed her
thanks to SCI for their visit and working with DUFO. She also undertook to assist
SCI in related procedures and create favorable conditions for SCI to implement
educational projects in Dong Nai.
