Support for the repair and construction of houses of gratitude for former volunteer soldiers in the Cambodia battlefield
 

On May 26, 2025, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dong Nai province coordinated with local authorities to inaugurate and hand over gratitude houses mobilized by the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association and sponsored by the PetroVietnam Gas Jointstock Corporation (PVGAS).

Attendees included Mr. Le Hong Liem - Vice President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association (Central Association) along with members of the Central Association's working delegation and the sponsor; Ms. Vy Vu Hong Thao - Vice President of Dong Nai provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, Mr. Tran Thanh Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dong Nai province, representatives of the local party committee, local government, and mass organizations of Bao Vinh ward in Long Khanh City and Xuan My commune in Cam My district, Dong Nai province, as well as some former volunteer soldiers and former Vietnamese experts who assisted the Cambodian revolution (1979 - 1989)...

In Bao Vinh ward, Long Khanh city, the delegates conducted the handover of a new house to Mr. Truong Dinh Due, a former volunteer soldier of Vietnam who helped the Cambodian revolution (1979 - 1989). This included the acceptance work, handing over the decision to transfer the meaningful house project, and presenting gifts from the Central Association and local authorities to the family. It is known that the house construction began on March 14, 2025, and by May 20, 2025, the project was completed and all acceptance procedures were finalized. The total construction cost was 160 million dongs with an area of 75m2 (including the aid worth 50 million dong funded by PVGAS, the remainder provided by the family and local fundraising efforts).

For Mr. Le Thanh Duc's family, a former Vietnamese volunteer soldier who assisted the Cambodian revolution (1979 - 1989) in Suoi Sok village, Xuan My commune, Cam My district; after receiving support from the Central Association, the family and local authorities proceeded to repair and upgrade the house. The total repair cost is 70 million dongs with an area of 95 m2 (including the aid worth 50 million dong funded by PVGAS, and the remaining funds raised by the family and the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in Cam My district). At the handover ceremony, the central and local delegates also completed the acceptance procedures, handed over the local decision, and presented gifts from the central and the provincial government to the family.

In a general assessment of the support work for building new and repairing gratitude houses, Mr. Tran Thanh Hung – Chairman of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of the province stated that the provincial Association has strictly implemented the directives of the Central Association and closely coordinated with local authorities, association branches, and district associations under the Association to promptly deploy, guide, support, and supervise the construction of two housing projects. The implementation has been carried out for the right beneficiaries, receiving enthusiastic attention and support from local authorities and the families of former volunteer soldiers, creating consensus and response from members in the locality, in order to provide timely support and supplement funding to help ensure the successful implementation of the projects (raising an additional approximately 200% of the supported funding). The construction projects were carried out on schedule, ensuring quality and prices appropriate to the area and the time of construction.

At the handover ceremony, Mr. Le Hong Liem, Vice President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association, highly appreciated the local support and the assistance of the members of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association in the locality, along with Mr. Le Thanh Duc, Mr. Truong Dinh Due, and their neighbors and relatives who helped complete the dream homes of two families. He also encouraged and hoped that the families would continue to contribute to building a prosperous local community and participate in the sustainable development of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association. He expressed his desire for the local party committees, people's governments at all levels, and local mass organizations to continue to care for and support members of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association who are former volunteer soldiers and experts assisting the Cambodian revolution, helping them improve their living conditions for a better life.

Mr. Le Thanh Duc and Mr. Truong Dinh Due, former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, also expressed their gratitude and sincere thanks to the Central Association, the PetroVietnam Gas Jointstock Corporation (PVGAS), and the local community for their support in providing their family with a spacious home, contributing to the improvement of their daily lives.
