As
of 2025, diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russia has been
established for 75 years (1950 - 2025). After 75 years of establishing
diplomatic relations, the relationship between the two countries has achieved
many accomplishments in the fields of diplomacy, economy, and socio - cultural
aspects. This relationship has become closely intertwined in the context of the
increasingly complex and tense global economic, political, and military
situation.
According to Thanh Nien Online newspaper on February 25, 2025, the
Vietnamese community in Russia now numbers 70,000 people, while the Russian
community in Vietnam includes 3,000 people. Over the past 75 years, the
political relations between Vietnam and Russia has always been highly reliable
and has continuously strengthened, achieving many new milestones. This reflects
deep political trust and effective cooperation in many areas, from economics,
trade, investment, education and training, science and technology to defense
and security. Notable events include the signing of the Treaty on the Basic
Principles of Friendly Relations in 1994; the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership
in 2001; and upgrading bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic
Partnership in 2012.
The Consul General of Russia in Ho Chi Minh City, Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich, attended the 75th Anniversary celebration of Viet Nam - Russia diplomatic relations organized by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on February 25, 2025.
The aforementioned
milestones serve as a solid bridge to foster understanding, trust, friendship,
and effective cooperation between the two countries. The Consul General of Russia
in Ho Chi Minh City, Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich, stated that Russia always
values Vietnam's balanced approach to the conflict in Ukraine, calling for a
diplomatic solution, reflecting a commitment to resolving international
disputes through dialogue and negotiation; the strong momentum for bilateral
cooperation is evident as in 2024, Vietnam is one of the first countries that President
of Russia Vladimir Putin visits after officially taking office for his new
term. On the international
stage, Viet Nam and Russia consistently share and support each other, and
maintain close coordination at multilateral forums such as the United Nations,
APEC, ASEM, ARF, and within the ASEAN-Russia cooperation framework. "I
would like to emphasize that the positions of Russia and Vietnam on current
issues in the global and regional agenda are very close. Together with our
Vietnamese friends, we are strongly committed to forming a fairer and more
democratic multipolar world order based on international law, primarily based
on the main provisions of the United Nations Charter," Mr. Sadykov Timur
Sirozhevich noted. He also stated that Russia highly appreciates Vietnam's
balanced approach; Russia is interested in expanding and implementing new joint
projects between Russian and Vietnamese provinces and cities, mainly with the
participation of small and medium - sized enterprises.

A cultural exchange performance at the ceremony took place in an atmosphere of deep solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Russia.

Friendship" festival of Dong Nai province, the fifth edition in 2024.
* A series of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations
between the two countries (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2025) is initiated by
the official visit of Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin to Vietnam on January 14 and
15, 2025. During the visit, leaders from both sides issued a joint statement to
enhance cooperation in various fields such as security, defense, economy,
science and technology, education, and training. Previously, Prime Minister
Pham Minh Chinh attended the expanded BRICS Summit held in Russia in October
2024.
On February 25, 2025, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a
ceremony to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between
Vietnam and Russia. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich,
the Consul General of Russia in Ho Chi Minh City, along with many high-ranking
leaders of the city. The celebration took place in a warm atmosphere of solidarity
and friendship between the two nations' peoples, leaving a deep impression on
the attending delegates.
In
Dong Nai, the provincial People's Committee has issued a program for the people
- to - people diplomacy for the year 2025. Accordingly, the 75th anniversary of
the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Russia is
expected to be celebrated with meaningful people's external activities such as:
an exhibition showcasing images of the friendly relationship between Vietnam,
Dong Nai, and Russia; a documentary film about the friendly relationship
between Vietnam and Russia; a cultural exchange program involving Vietnamese
and Russian artists with Russian experts and the Consulate General of Russia in
Ho Chi Minh City; and a roundtable discussion between Russian experts working
in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and students from universities in the province.
It is known that activities in Dong Nai will take place in the second quarter
of 2025.
