On the morning of December 18, 2024, the Vietnam - ASEAN Friendship
Association of Dong Nai province organized a seminar on the history, culture,
and people - to - people exchanges of ASEAN countries in 2024. Attending the event
were Ms. Vy Vu Hong Thao - Vice President of the Union of Friendship
Organizations of Dong Nai province, Mr. Mai Van Nhon – Chairman of the Vietnam -
ASEAN Friendship Association of the province, and leaders of member friendship
associations, along with representatives and more than 300 students from Dong
Nai University of Technology.

This activity aims to raise awareness among officials, youth, students, and
various social classes in Dong Nai province about the development achievements
of the ASEAN community, as well as Vietnam's role and position within the ASEAN
community after 29 years of its membership; to enhance mutual understandings
between Vietnam and ASEAN countries in general and Dong Nai in particular. Simultaneously,
it continues to promote the role of the Union of Friendship Organizations and
the Vietnam - ASEAN Friendship Association of Dong Nai province, as agencies that
consolidate and foster friendship so that the people can understand each other,
unite, and contribute to building an increasingly strong and prosperous ASEAN
community.
At the
event, delegates and students enjoyed meaningful cultural performances that
showcased friendship, cultural exchange, and people-to-people connections
between Vietnam and ASEAN countries, presented by students from Dong Nai
University and Dong Nai University of Technology. In particular, students had
the opportunity to listen to Associate Professor Dr. Phan Thi Hong Xuan -
Director of the ASEAN Human Resources Research and Training Center at the
University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho
Chi Minh City, and President of the Vietnam - ASEAN Friendship Association in
Ho Chi Minh City, who presented a lecture on the history, culture, and
people-to-people exchanges of ASEAN countries.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Mai Van Nhon – Chairman of the Vietnam - ASEAN
Friendship Association of Dong Nai province, stated that the event is of great
significance, helping students from Dong Nai University of Technology in
particular and students from universities in the province in general to learn
about the history, culture, and people - to - people exchanges between Vietnam
and ASEAN countries. At the seminar, students gain a deeper understanding of
the culture, heritage, arts, history, and civilization of ASEAN member
countries. Acknowledging the effectiveness of the seminar, Mr. Le Phan Quang
Huy, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Department - Secretary of the Youth
Union of Dong Nai University of Technology, stated that in the future, the
school will strengthen cooperation with Dong Nai province Union of Friendship
Organizations and the Executive Committee of its member friendship associations
to enhance ideological education for students through extracurricular
activities related to cultural exchange, cultural diplomacy, and people - to - people
exchanges through seminars, thematic talks, conferences, and cultural and
artistic events of Vietnam and other countries; thereby helping students
supplement their cultural and social knowledge and soft skills after
graduation.

*ASEAN was founded on August 8,
1967, and currently includes ten member countries: Indonesia, Thailand, the
Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Việt Nam, Laos, Myanmar, and
Cambodia.
Malaysia currently assumes the rotating
chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2025,
after Laos concluded its chairmanship year of the bloc in 2024.
