In the first months of 1978, although the economy of the whole country
in general and Dong Nai in particular encountered difficulties and challenges,
with responsibility to the Fatherland and friendship with the Cambodian people,
friends and neighbors, Dong Nai province helped Mr. Hunsen establish Division
125 - the
precursor of the Cambodian United Front for National Salvation in Cam My
district (today), and sent hundreds of thousands of soldiers to stand side by
side with the neighbouring country’s armed forces to help the country and save
the people of Cambodia escape from genocide. There were more than 1,300 volunteer
soldiers of Dong Nai province died or injured while performing their noble
international duty.

In
particular, the historical relic of the Brigade 125, a testament to the close
solidarity relationship between the two countries' military and people, a relic
that proves that despite hardships and sacrifices, the people and army of Vietnam,
including Dong Nai, not only protects the homeland but is also ready to do
everything for the Cambodian People to fight against genocide. This voluntary
activity represents for a symbol of traditional solidarity and long-lasting
friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The Dong
Nai province Vietnam – Cambodia was established in 2015 and had only 296
members. All of them were former military volunteers. Now the Vietnam -
Cambodia Friendship Association of Dong Nai province has 01 district-level
Association, 10 Joint Branches, 02 affiliatedBranches, 01 Club with 6,418
members. Among them, there are 80% of the members. More than 90% of the
Executive Committee members are volunteer veterans.
Although it was established only 10 years ago, Dong
Nai province Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has contributed to the
people of Dong Nai in cultivating the traditional neighborly friendship and
comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, in accordance with the
conditions of the province and activities of the Association. The Association
has effectively performed its role as a bridge in exchanging delegations;
cooperation in the fields of economic investment, culture, education, support
and humanitarian activities. In particular, the "Nurturing
Friendship" program aims to contribute to the young generation of the two
countries, the young generation of Dong Nai and Kangpongthom, continuing to
unite together to build a peaceful, prosperous and happy living environment for
people of two nations.

To maintain its activities and
truly be a destination to demonstrate the solidarity between the people of Dong
Nai and traditional neighbors, the Association needs to be creative in
activities to attract the participation of many classes of people. In
particular, planting "Seeds of Friendship" for the young generation
of the two countries must be considered an important task, because "it is
from those seeds that the friendly relationship will sprout, develop and
promote the tradition that generations of ancestors have built" as
affirmed by comrade Nguyen Thanh Tri – President of the Union of Friendship
Organizations of Dong Nai province.
