On the morning of April 25, 2023, at the Dong Nai Nature - Culture Reserve,
the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) held a meeting with relevant agencies to
launch the project on management and conservation of water resources in Dong
Nai river basin. At the meeting, there were Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - Deputy
Director, Department of External Relations; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hao - Director of
Dong Nai Nature - Culture Reserve; representatives of leaders of the Dong Nai
province Union of Friendship Organizations, Department of Natural Resources and
Environment, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, People's
Committees of communes and the project beneficiaries.

At the meeting, WWF
representative - Mr. Dang The Nhan introduced the goal of the project on
management and conservation of water resources in Dong Nai river basin that
will contribute to the One Billion Trees Program by restoring, preserving
effectively the integrity of the ecosystem, conserving and developing the water
resources of the upstream Dong Nai river basin by afforestation, reforestation,
and encouraging and supporting community participation in the protection of
water resources and quality.
As the Chair of the meeting, Director of Dong
Nai Nature - Culture Reserve - Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hao shared the plan to
implement the project on management and conservation of water resources in Dong
Nai river basin, which is planned to be implemented in the period of 2023 -
2025, with a total funding of 13.8 billion VND. The project is divided into
phases and many items. The first phase is expected to grow 700 hectares of
natural forests and additionally plant 10 hectares of forests along Tri An Lake.
The next phase is to establish community groups to protect the water resource
and deploy funding packages to encourage the community, save water in
agricultural production and daily life…. At the end of the discussion, Mr.
Nguyen Hoang Hao suggested that community groups that are project beneficiaries
should carefully monitor the implementation plan to ensure the schedule, so
that the project is implemented with the highest efficiency, contributing to
the green environmental protection.
