On February 21, 2023, the Union of Friendship
Organizations of the province received and worked with the delegation of the International
Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Kenya to visit and exchange information to
cooperate in the field of research, livestock industry, agriculture, hygiene,
veterinary epidemiology, prevention and management of diseases spreading
between animals and humans... in Dong Nai province in the coming time.

in the reception, on behalf of the Union of Provincial Friendship
Organizations, there were Ms. Bui Thi Lieu - Vice President, members of the
Foreign Non - Governmental Affairs Division. The delegation of ILRI is led by
Dr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Co-leader of Animal and Human Health Program at the
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), former Chief Representative
of ILRI from 2015 to 2020, Dr. Dao Duy Tung - Deputy Head of Virology
Department - National Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Nguyen Tien Thang –
ILRI Researcher, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ha – ILRI PhD student, Ms. Nguyen Le
Thanh – ILRI Office Manager.

At
the meeting, the Institute introduced an overview of the operation model, goals
and missions that it is aiming for, especially, within the framework of the
upcoming project to be implemented in Dong Nai province, the project
“Protecting human health through a One Health approach in Vietnam”. It is known
that the organization, previously, went to survey and find out the needs and
status of the livestock industry and epidemiology in the province.
The
program, the content presented by ILRI organization is suitable with the need
to improve the quality of life, towards improve human health using the One
Health approach (including animal health, human health and environment) of Dong
Nai province.
Through the meeting, ILRI hoped that
the Union of Friendship Organizations of the province as well as relevant
departments and agencies will create conditions for the implementation of
practical support projects for the locality, contributing to improving the
quality of life, protecting human health, animal health and healthier living
environment.
ILRI is a non-profit-making and non-governmental
organization with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, which is established in 1994.
ILRI has been granted a license to set up a representative office in Vietnam by
the Department of Foreign Affairs under Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Currently,
the organization has expanded its area in Dong Nai and exchanged opportunities
for cooperation with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural
Development with the goal of researching livestock industry and agricuture for
development.
