Cultural exchange between Vietnam and Indonesia in Dong Nai
 

On the morning of April 5, 2022, the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - ASEAN Friendship Association in Dong Nai province coordinated with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City to organize a Vietnam - Indonesia cultural exchange program in Dong Nai.

At the program, there was the attendance of Mr. Agustaviano Sofjan - Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City and members of the Consulate General; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Tat Do and representatives of leaders of departments, agencies, friendship associations and leaders of Dong Nai University, Lac Hong University, Dong Nai College of Decorative Arts.

Delivering a welcome speech, the Chairman of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations said that this is the first event to kick off the people-to-people exchange activities between Dong Nai province and the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City since Mr. Agustaviano Sofjan was appointed as Consul General. The program will bring many new and unique experiences, as well as provide useful knowledge to enhance understanding and cultural exchange among the people of Dong Nai and those of Indonesia.

Mr. Agustaviano Sofjan - Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City expressed his honor to cooperate in organizing this event in order to strengthen the cultural exchange relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam. He also believes that, after the program, cooperation in the field of culture will help the two parties become closer together and will achieve better cooperation results in the coming time.

Within the framework of the program, Indonesian experts had interesting information about traditional Batik drawing and printing techniques, and guided delegates to practice drawing and printing Batik. In addition, the participants in the program also enjoyed the cultural performances of Vietnam and Indonesia; the fashion show of traditional costumes of the two countries.

Before the cultural exchange program, the Indonesian Consulate General delegation and delegates from departments and agencies offered incense at the Tran Bien Temple of Literature, visited and heard an introduction to the history of Tran Bien Temple of Literature – a symbol of the tradition of studiousness, respect for teachers and respect for religion, the national spirit and culture of the Vietnamese people in the South.

Batik - an Indonesian handmade pattern painting technique, has been recognized by UNESCO as the Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Batik fabric is considered as an Indonesian national brand product in the world. This is a program in the series of events Batik Week - cultural exchange activities launched by the Government of Indonesia and coordinated with other countries to organize from April 3 to 7, 2022; in which in Vietnam, this activity is held in two places: Ho Chi Minh City and Dong

It is known that Batik is Indonesia’s traditional method of drawing pattern on cloth using wax and enlisted by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2009. Batik fabric is considered as one of the notable national products of Indonesia in the world. Batik fabric - a unique product with motifs from beeswax which are dyed naturally by Indonesian traditional craft method. This art has appeared for a long time in Central Asia spanning many countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, India. But in Indonesia, it has been brought to the top, Batik fabric is considered a world-famous product of Indonesia.

This Batik cutural exchange program is in the series of events “Batik Week” - cultural exchange activities launched by the Government of Indonesia and coordinated with other countries to organize from April 3 to 7, 2022. In Vietnam, this activity is held in two localities: Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province.
