On the morning of
March 22, 2022, at the Friendship House of the Vietnam Union of Friendship
Organizations, the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association held the 7th National
Congress, term 2021-2026.
Attending the Congress were:
Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Party Committee,
Head of the Central Organization Commission; Mr. Le Van Thanh, Member of the Central
Party Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; senior leaders of the commission,
ministries, sectors, mass organizations in central Government and Hanoi; leaders
of localities; Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, representatives of Japanese
organizations in Vietnam and nearly 150 delegates, representatives of the
Association of provinces/cities, agencies directly under the Central
Association nationwide, public figures, intellectuals, businesses... attended
the Congress in face-to-face and online form.
At the Congress, the delegates have
been informed the operational summary report of the 6th Congress of the
Association for the term 2015-202 and 5 presentations by the members of the
Executive Committee of the Association, leaders of the Vietnam - Japan
Friendship Association of Da Nang and Can Tho cities on practical
implementation of people-to-people diplomacy activities, contributing to
consolidating and enhancing the friendship and cooperation between the two
countries Vietnam and Japan in various fields.
The Congress elected the Executive Committee of 62 members, the
Board of leaders consisting of the President, 5 Vice Presidents and General
Secretary, and the Inspection Committee of the Association consisting of 3
members. Comrade To Huy Rua, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the
Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Organization Commission,
Chairman of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association was trustfully voted to be
the President of the Association for the term VII.

The Congress also listened to
comments and guidance of Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of
the Central Party Committee, Head of the Central
Organization Commission, and Ambassador Yamada Takio's comments.
On this occasion, the Vietnam -
Japan Friendship Association received the Certificate of Merit from the Prime
Minister. Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Party
Committee, Head of the Central Organization Commission, on behalf of the Party
and State leaders presented the Certificate of Merit to the Association.
