​On January 7, at Golden Lotus Restaurant, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association held its 2^nd Congress in Dong Nai province, term 2020 - 2025, with the theme: "Active - Flexible - Creative - Practical – Effective” in organization and operation of the Association.

At the Congress, there was the attendance of General Secretary of the Central Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association Nguyen Viet Loan; Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City Apirat Sugondhabhirom; Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Thai Bao; Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Training Commission under the Provincial Party Committee Pham Tan Linh; Deputy Head of Mass Mobilization Commission under the Provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Bich Thuy, together with 250 delegates who are members of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province, leaders of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City...

At the Congress, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Thai Bao emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand are two members of ASEAN. The People of Vietnam and those of Thailand have established a good traditional friendship for a long time. The relationship between the two countries have even been further promoted when Vietnam and Thailand officially established diplomatic relations since August 6 of1976 and the two parties officially established a strategic partnership in June of 2013. Thereby, the achievements of both parties in many fields have contributed to deepening the cooperation relationship between the two countries.

To make the activities of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province to become an important bridge of friendship, peace, solidarity, cooperation and development among the Peoples of the two countries in general, Dong Nai province and Thai localities in particular, Mr. Thai Bao asked the Executive Board of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association in Dong Nai province to focus on performing a number of key tasks, such as: concentrate on the orientation policies of people-to-people diplomacy of the Party, State, Union of Friendship Organizations of Vietnam and Dong Nai province to implement meaningful events in politics, economy, culture and anniversaries of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The affair on building and developing Association’s branches and Inter – Association branches under the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province has been implemented more and more effectively and practically. The propaganda activities have been promoted to introduce and provide information to all classes of people in the province, especially the young generation about the history, country, people, traditional culture and achievements of development of  People of the two nations - Vietnam and Thailand. The Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province has mobilized a large number of people to participate and effectively contribute to its activities, and at the same time establish the bilateral cooperation relationships with local people's organizations in Thailand in the coming time…

According to Chairman of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province Nguyen Van Thang, since its establishment, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province has promoted the proactive spirit in performing its role as a bridge promoting exchanges between the People of Dong Nai and those of Thailand, with the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh city, and Thai businesses that are cooperating and investing in Dong Nai province. As a result, in the past 5 years, the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of the province has become the home for 150 members. In addition, the Association also enhances exchanges between Dong Nai people with Thai people, exchanges with Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of other provinces and cities.

The 2^nd Congress of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Dong Nai province elected 23 members of the Executive Committee, term 2020 – 2025. Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association in Dong Nai province for the 2015-2020 term was re-elected as Chairman for the new term.

On this occasion, the Central Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association presented Certificates of Merit to 14 individuals, the Provincial People's Committee presented Certificates of Merit to 9 individuals and collectives and the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations presented Certificates of Merit to 8 individuals, collectives with excellent achievements in the operation of the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association of Dong Nai province, term 2015-2020.
