The 25th Anniversary of Vietnam – U.S. diplomatic relations (July 12, 1995 - July 12, 2020)

On the morning of July 18, 2020, the Union of Friendship Organizations of Dong Nai Province in collaboration with the Vietnam - US Friendship Association of the province held a ceremony to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Vietnam –US Diplomatic Relations (July 12, 1995 - July 12, 2020). There was the attendance of Ms. Marie C. Damour - Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Nguyen Hoa Hiep - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee and about 400 delegates who are leaders of departments, agencies and sectors of the province, Friendship Associations, members of the Vietnam - US Friendship Association and students of Dong Nai University and Lac Hong University.

Ms. Marie C. Damour - Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City delivered a speech at the Ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Hoa Hiep - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assessed that the cooperation between Dong Nai province and localities of the US has made lots of achievements. Currently, there are 27 US enterprises investing in Dong Nai province in the industrial field with a total registered capital of more than 207 million USD, ranking the 10th among countries and territories investing in the province. The United States is currently Dong Nai's largest commodity export market.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tri - Chairman of the Friendship Union, in 2018, the establishment of the Vietnam - US Friendship Association in Dong Nai province is a turning point in the friendship relationship among the people of Dong Nai province and those of the US.  After nearly 2 years of operation, the Friendship Association has organized many practical activities to strengthen the friendship and cooperation relationship between the people of Dong Nai and the Consulate General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City, US businesses investing in the province; develop a large number of members.

Ms. Marie C. Damour - Consulate General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City thanked People of Dong Nai province for their sentiment to those of the United States. She expressed her joy at having the opportunity to accompany Dong Nai province and Dong Nai University to introduce the educational opportunities for Vietnamese youth through EducationUSA, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant and ACCESS English programs. The salient feature of the event was the cooperation of the two parties when showing two award-winning performances of the musical Hamilton to students at the school, providing better opportunities for students and promoting cultural and educational relationships, bringing more information about American culture and history to the people of Dong Nai.

Also at the Ceremony, the Vietnam - US Friendship Association of the province launched the first Friendship Association Branch at Dong Nai University and presented 10 gifts (total value of 10 million VND) to 10 outstanding students of the Faculty of English Language of Dong Nai University and Lac Hong University.

The Ceremony came to an end after the talk show on "Looking back on 25 years of the Vietnam – US diplomatic relations"  chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Nam Tien - Faculty of International Relations of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City. Thereby, it provided more information about American culture and history to students and people of Dong Nai.                                                        ​
