​On July 17, Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen issued a statement giving a number of gifts to support the Government of Vietnam in preventing the rapid spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City. These gifts include 1,000,000 normal masks; 100,000 N95 masks, 100 oxygen concentrators and 200,000 USD.

President of the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association - Dr. Men Sam An announced, the Association asked the Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia to transfer the donation mount of 50,000 USD to the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association to support the Vietnamese people in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

On this occasion, the leader of the Cambodia Red Cross Society also said that he would donate 100,000 USD to the Vietnam Red Cross Society to support the COVID-19 prevention and control activities.

The Cambodia’s government-run news agency Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) stated that this is a symbol of the spirit of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries, especially during difficult times due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past time, the two countries Vietnam and Cambodia have closely cooperated in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in border provinces. Governments and agencies, mass organizations and localities of the two parties regularly visit and donate medical supplies to support each other, and promptly assist the People of each country in the fight against the pandemic.

Previously, in May of 2021, Vietnam donated Cambodia 800 ventilators, 2 million medical masks and 300,000 N95 masks, within the framework of Vietnam's third official support to help Cambodia cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April of 2020 and 2021, the Party, State, Government and People of Vietnam donated many medical supplies and equipment to Cambodia, including COVID-19 testing systems and biological products, protective clothing, medical masks, antibacterial masks and financial support worth of 500,000 USD.

In May, Cambodian Ambassador Chay Navuth shared that the support from Vietnam is not only a noble gesture and the fruitful friendship, solidarity and good neighborly relationship between the two countries but also bring practical effects for the prevention of COVID-19 pandemic.

Regarding Dong Nai province, in 2020 and 2021, the Party Committee, Authority and People of Dong Nai, with the transfer support of Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, have donated a total amount of 400 million VND and 2,000 medical masks in order to support the community of Vietnamese – Cambodians living and working in Cambodia in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic. Particularly, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dong Nai province has mobilized its members to donate 15,000 medical masks to the Cambodian people with the transfer support of the Consulate General of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City.
